I'm not qualified to suggest why that is certainly so, but I do understand this: most people respond to be able to witty words and two bottle entendre. And this film offers both, in spades (plus was awarded the Oscar pertaining to Best Screenplay). Add to that additionally, firm abs capable and radiant Katherine Hepburn - certainly one of Hollywood's true greats - Cary Scholarhip, James Stewart and Ruth Hussy, you can then feel safe of a slick development, fine acting (Jimmy Stewart acquired Best Actor Award) including a very pleasurable 112 units. And, the re-mastered DVD we watched was perfect. The film was adapted coming from a stage play and that's obvious: many of the set scenes look just like though you're sitting within a live theatre, and I think which has a very positive effect for your viewer. For example, the musical version (Great Society 1956) does not quite have that same look over it, as a stage manufacturing; moreover, the screenplay of this movie just doesn't fit this 1940 release. I laughed much more throughout the latter. So, what's the story information on Rich people, snobs, the excesses of success, marriage, divorce, love, honour, honesty, and... what it means to understand yourself. The last item alludes mostly to Tracey 'Red' Master (Katherine Hepburn), the flighty, gay and free-spirited (seemingly) daughter of an filthy rich banker. On her wedding evening, she's furious that the girl's ex-husband, Dexter Haven (Cary Grant) has resulted in, with a couple connected with (maybe) low-life reporters via Spy magazine, to spoil her wedding to her very risk-free, very dull and really dreary new husband-to-be, George Kittredge (Ruben Howard). How that plays out and about, and how Tracey find herself and real love by the end with the movie, is a sheer please: the dialog is speedy, witty, loud and complex - so you must listen carefully all some time. Although, watch for some with the sight gags by Jimmy Stewart as well as his facial expressions; no wonder he obtained the Oscar (and for your comedy too! ). But, the concentration is worth every penny and, fortunately, there are quieter occasions whereby you, and the actors, can catch their ideas and breath. At times, the whole production contains a sense of a United kingdom farce, the type that those Brits are so great at. beneficial films of all times But, it's all American (by these times, Cary Grant was a great American citizen) and as good, if not better.
